This seminar will engage in recent conversations around the world in the social sciences and public sphere concerning the topics of Islam and Decoloniality. It will be a brief introduction to various intellectual and political currents in the Muslim world and its diasporas that deal with Muslim approaches to decolonizing knowledge, power and being.

Alexander Abbasi is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Religion Studies, University of Johannesburg. He is an Arab-American Muslim scholar activist whose work lies at the crossroads of Islamophobia Studies, Islamic Liberation Theology and Decolonial Theory.
